Course Goals / Objectives:
Introduce students to all aspects of the discipline of mechanical engineering, including thermal and fluid systems, control systems, and mechanical design
Emphasize the need for thinking and designing at the systems level through product dissection and exercises in functional description
Provide structured and open-ended design experiences with multiple possible outcomes, while emphasizing hands?on learning
Improve students' ability to communicate effectively and professionally using written, verbal, and graphic media
Develop students' abilities to function effectively in teams and provide further experience in project management
Provide extensive experience in using the tools and methods of mechanical engineering, including CAD, CAM, and prototyping skills
